reno baby

that doesn't quite have the same ring to it as vegas baby. I went to Reno for the air races. I had the most fun watching the thunderbirds and the comedy trick show. Parts fall off of the comedy plane and fall to the ground. The aileron falls off and then he throws out the users' manual, toilet paper and then after he tries to land a couple of times the wheel falls off. This time it fell off and hit a car. It wasn't supposed to hit anything and everyone in the stands knew it. The announcer was cracking up. It might have been kinda scary for the guy in the car. He was out in the middle of nowhere. The dent was pretty big. Below is a picture of us eating breakfast on the way home.

The drive up and back was really something. All of the mountains, trees and rocks. Pictures don't do it justice. It's different to be there and see everything. I took some pictures and they don't do it justice either. Everything is more colorful in person and it's all much bigger. One of the guys who came with us has been off roading in a lot of the mountains around the area we were driving through so he was able to tell me stuff about them. On the way back he showed me where they filmed bud's trailer in kill bill II. I want to go back there in the light. In the movie it looked really cool with all kinds of different colored mountains. Dave said that he saw the trailor in the park and didn't know that they were filming until he saw the movie and recognized everything. Another pit stop on the drive home is pictured below.

There have been fires in my part of the country since labor day and the smoke has filled the sky. It is spooky. It rolls over the hills to the west and blows through the valley. It looks like brown red dark clouds. I guess when the fires are closer and more intense it rains ash, but it hasn't gotten to that in this area. I uploaded some pictures but it stopped working so the smoke pictures may have to wait.

vegas baby

So last weekend I went to VEGAS! It's close enough to be a weekend trip. I really don't have much to say about it. I didn't get a chance to cruise the strip at night. I stayed at the MGM Grand. It was Grand. We hung out and ordered drinks by the pool first. They have a lazy river that was really long and it was hot outside so it was good to take a dip. We had dinner at a nice resaraunt. Mom is going to get mad but I can't remember the name of the place. I guess I'll have to look it up. It's Delmonico in the venecian. I got pork chops, don't tell Steve I say so, but I think mom's pork is better. The next day Dave and I had breakfast at the rain forest cafe and walked around the strip and rode on the monorail behind the strip. There is still a lot to see, so I'll have to go back sometime soon.

I should get back to watching season one of arrested development because it's due back sunday and I'm leaving for Reno tomorrow. I am going with a big group to the air races up there. When I get back I don't have to go to work up at the lab. I am going to be in LA for IPD business for a week or two. Call me, I'm lonely.

**update** I just saw shelly's blog and I have to suggest that you have a look. There's a link on my side bar for easy navigation!

monday? feels like a sunday

This weekend was long and fun I did something every day... and I thought I was going to be sitting around all weekend. I am flying back to New Orleans tomorrow. It is going to stink not being able to take toiletries with me. I mean ... I'm going to stink without my toiletries. I'm kidding, I'll get some travel crap when I get there. It just won't be the same.

I don't have much to talk about sorry guys
